The Danville Local School District is required by Ohio law (R.C. 3313.60) to provide students in grades kindergarten through six with annual developmentally appropriate instruction in child sexual abuse prevention, including information on available counseling and resources for children who are sexually abused. The District is required to provide students in grades seven through twelve with developmentally appropriate instruction in dating violence prevention education and sexual violence prevention education, including instruction in recognizing dating violence warning signs and characteristics of healthy relationships.
Instruction in child sexual abuse prevention and sexual violence prevention is a required part of the District's curriculum. Upon request, parents and legal guardians may examine such instructional materials in accordance with R.C. 3313.60. A student may be excused from taking such instruction only upon the District’s receipt of a written request from the student’s parent or guardian. Curriculum may be viewed and if desired a “Parent/Guardian Excuse from Instruction in Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Sexual Violence Prevention” form may be obtained from the District’s Administrative Office.
