On Sunday December 3rd, the Danville National Honor Society held their induction. During the ceremony, there were 15 candidates being inducted. These students were Landon Lyons, Abigail Sapp, Aidan Burke, Joshua Byers, McKenzie Holt, Marley Boone, Ava Snively, Andrea Holland, Bryce Kuhel-Schaade, Addison Mickley, Kay Stimpert, Heloisa Vasquez, Ava Jensen, Haylee Cunningham, and Simon Lape. To be inducted into the National Honor Society these students were required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 as well as showing the characteristics of scholarship, character, service, and leadership. Students were voted on by a panel of five staff members and had to receive three out of five votes to be accepted. This year the Danville National Honor Society is becoming more engaged in activities. In the 2023-2024 school year National Honor Society has put on three main events, “Socktober”, a Change War, and the Veterans Day Pancake breakfast. Their “Socktober” event had great success and they were able to collect winter clothing for children in need. National Honor Society members also had a great turn out for their Veterans Day pancake breakfast. Students were able to cook and provide a meal for veterans while also thanking them for their service and sacrifices. One of the most recent events was the “change war” which had a great turn out as-well. During the change war, students were able to fill teachers' cups. The top teachers were then pied in the face after the staff vs senior volleyball game. All profits were donated to the Josie Lynne Kaylor Memorial Scholarship. National Honor Society adviser Hunter Webster stated “These are just a few of the great ways we have connected students with the community and we hope to continue doing so as the year progresses.”

It’s like Christmas in the ag department today!! Back in October, we applied for a grant through the Ohio Forestry Association to get supplies to further our environmental science curriculum, and we got one! We serve a dual purpose with these activities: the kids learn life skills for various careers, AND they get REALLY excited to tell people about their fun labs. Through the grant, we were able to get new tree scale sticks, two new GPS units, 5 new clinometers AND a water quality test kit. These supplies are going to be used for activities in Ag, Food and Natural Resources (Ag 1), Greenhouse and Nursery Management, and A&E Capstone. Huge thank you to the Ohio Forestry Association for supporting our program!
